The Conductor
I’ve spent over thirteen years exploring how light can quietly shape our perception of space. For me, lighting design is about listening to the architecture, anticipating how people move and feel, and offering a sense of both comfort and discovery.
I’ve guided projects like the 840,000 sq. ft. (6.4-acre) Zydus Corporate Park in Ahmedabad, where large-scale structure meets nuanced detailing, as well as Gaurav Gupta’s flagship boutique in Mumbai, where each luminaire had to honor the fluid, sculptural silhouettes of the space and display.
In my work, some contours need to be revealed while others benefit from a gentle hush of shadow. This careful balance comes from observing light's behaviour everywhere, particularly in nature – the way shadows dance under moving leaves, sunlight pierces through openings, or the sky presents its changing colours. This idea of revealing and concealing resonates with me: daylight can sometimes overwhelm, but well-crafted illumination reshapes what we see—creating moments of surprise, focus, or tranquility. My recent contribution to Nilaya Anthology (2025), Mumbai’s sprawling luxury design destination, further reinforced the power of lighting to guide an entire narrative, from the functional to the deeply emotional.
These days, I’m integrating emerging technologies like AI and immersive simulations to refine the design process before anything is physically built. I see immense potential in these tools to reimagine how we design, iterate, and collaborate—enabling us to visualize concepts with greater clarity, anticipate errors or omissions, and push creative boundaries. They transform the dialogue between architects, clients, and lighting professionals, bridging imagination and practicality in ways I never thought possible.
At heart, my goal remains unchanged: to craft lighting solutions that feel effortless, intuitive, and ready for tomorrow. Outside the studio, I produce electronic music and DJ, which fuels my fascination with layering and harmony—elements I continually bring back into my design practice. If you’d like to explore the possibilities light can offer, I’d be honored to collaborate.
I am currently based in New Delhi, where I live with my wife, Purnima, and our dog, Dexter.
